About Taylor

Hi, I’m Taylor! I’m a Computer Science undergraduate at the University of St Andrews, having recently completed the IB Diploma with a total score of 38.

I love programming and coding, and just finished a custom rick roll generator, which has real unknown users that use it everyday!

I have 4 years of football coach experience, coaching within my school and outside a club, working with people between the age of 3-41 year olds, which made me fall in love with coaching and teaching

In my free time, I absolutely love to play and coach football, but also watch my beloved Manchester United lose against relegation battling teams. Besides coaching, I have also tutored other students and friends in CS and Maths, and I hope you can be part of the team as well!

About the lesson

Visual, Patient, and Concept-Focused Tutoring

My teaching approach focuses on deep understanding rather than memorisation. I am a very patient tutor who believes in visualising complex ideas using diagrams and step-by-step trace tables so students can see exactly what is happening underneath the theory. Because, I was also once a struggling student.

How I Structure My Lessons:

Duration: Standard 60-minute sessions focused on high-yield, targeted concepts.

Workload: I avoid overloading students with excessive homework. Instead, we maximise our time together in class so learning stays effective and manageable alongside schoolwork.

Qualifications & Experience:

Current Degree: Computer Science undergraduate at the University of St Andrews.

IB Diploma: Achieved a 38 overall, with Grade 6s (equivalent to Grade A) in Higher Level Computer Science and Higher Level Mathematics.

IGCSE: Grade A in Further Mathematics, Standard Mathematics, and Computer Science, alongside 9s and As across other subjects.

Tutoring Background: Experienced in peer tutoring through my high school’s official tutoring programme, alongside helping friends with any questions. As well as a 4 year football coach at high school.

Ideal for secondary school students preparing for major exams (GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, and IB SL/HL), though anyone looking to build confidence or strengthen their core understanding in Computer Science is welcome!

Taylor was a stellar student back in my high school computer science class. For one, aside from his top grades, he has always demonstrated a strong willingness to help those in abject confusion (that’s me). He’s very good natured and patient with all his students, his humility is unmatched, and I’m pretty sure he’s embarrassed to see his bro glazing him. It’s all true though, and I could not recommend a better teacher than him.
