About Marat

Hi, I’m Marat — a Maths and Computer Science tutor with 8+ years of experience, specialising in GCSE & A-level and IB exams. Many of my students start with me at GCSE and stay through A-level because we build strong foundations early, then refine speed, accuracy, and exam confidence over time.

Maths doesn’t have to feel scary or boring. In my lessons we break problems into simple, logical steps and celebrate every “aha!” moment. As a tutor with 8 years of experience and a background from a top-100 world university, I help students build real confidence in A-Level, GCSE and school maths, as well as first-year university topics. We’ll start by identifying your goals and weak spots, then I create a personalised plan with clear explanations, exam-style questions and practical tips. Lessons are friendly, encouraging and highly interactive – you’ll be asking questions, solving problems and seeing your progress from week to week.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed an interest in Mathematics and Computer Science during my GCSE and A-level years, when I realised how logical and structured these subjects are. I enjoyed seeing how complex problems could be broken down into simple, manageable steps.

My interest in private tutoring started when I began helping classmates understand topics they found difficult. Explaining algorithms or mathematical methods in different ways helped me realise how powerful one-to-one learning can be, especially for students who feel lost in a classroom environment.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach GCSE and A-level Mathematics and Computer Science. In Maths, I particularly enjoy algebra, problem-solving, and topics that develop logical thinking. In Computer Science, I enjoy teaching programming concepts, algorithms, and computational thinking.

Some topics can feel abstract or intimidating at first, but I see this as part of the learning process. Helping students move from confusion to clarity — especially in programming or complex mathematical topics — is one of the most rewarding parts of tutoring.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, I had teachers who made a strong impression on me by explaining difficult concepts clearly and patiently. They encouraged questions and never made students feel uncomfortable for not understanding something immediately.

This approach strongly influences my own teaching style. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes, knowing that mistakes are part of learning.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

I believe a good tutor should be:

Patient and calm, especially with challenging topics

    Clear and structured in explanations

Adaptable, using different approaches for different learners

Encouraging, to build confidence alongside skills

    Focused on understanding, not memorisation

In Maths and Computer Science especially, helping students understand why something works is more important than simply showing them how.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

During my studies, I initially found some programming concepts and higher-level Maths topics quite challenging. After spending time breaking them down and practising consistently, these areas became some of my strongest.

This experience helps me relate to my students. When they feel stuck, I can reassure them that difficulty is normal — and that progress comes from persistence and the right explanations.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

One of the main challenges was mastering problem-solving under exam conditions — applying knowledge accurately and efficiently, rather than just understanding it in theory.

This is something I now emphasise with my students: exam technique, logical thinking, and structured problem-solving, which are essential in both Maths and Computer Science.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My main passion is teaching students how to think logically and confidently. I enjoy showing students that Maths and Computer Science are not about being “naturally gifted”, but about practice, structure, and mindset.

Seeing students gain confidence — especially those who initially lack belief in themselves — is what motivates me most.
  • What makes you a Superprof?

What makes me a Superprof is my commitment to personalised, structured learning. I adapt lessons to each student’s level, goals, and learning style, and I focus on building strong foundations before moving on to more advanced topics.

I aim to make Maths and Computer Science clear, approachable, and even enjoyable, while helping students achieve measurable progress and confidence.
