About Chisom

I am a Mechanical Engineering lecturer based in the UK, currently teaching Level 1 to 3 engineering students. My role involves supporting learners with a range of abilities, including those who need to build confidence in Maths and those working towards higher grades.

I have always had a strong interest in Maths and Physics, and I use both regularly in my teaching. Over time, I have developed a clear and structured way of explaining topics, which helps students who may have found these subjects difficult in school.

I decided to offer private tuition because I have seen how much difference individual support can make. In a classroom, it is not always possible to give every student the time they need. One-to-one sessions allow me to focus on specific gaps in understanding and help students progress at their own pace.

I enjoy helping students move from confusion to clarity, and from uncertainty to confidence. Seeing that progress over time is what motivates me to teach.

My lessons are structured, clear, and focused on helping students make steady progress in Maths and Physics.

I usually begin by identifying the areas a student finds difficult. From there, I break topics down into simple steps and explain them in a way that is easy to follow. I check understanding throughout the lesson and give students the chance to practise, rather than just listen.

A typical lesson includes a short explanation, guided examples, and then exam-style questions. I make regular use of past papers and mark schemes so students understand how questions are set and how marks are awarded.

I pay particular attention to common problem areas such as algebra, calculations, and interpreting questions correctly. Many students lose marks not because they do not understand the topic, but because they are unsure how to apply it in an exam. I help to close that gap.

My background in engineering allows me to explain ideas in a practical way, especially in Physics, which helps students see how topics connect to real situations.

I aim to build both understanding and confidence, so that students are better prepared for their exams and able to work more independently over time.
