About Shyam

Hello everyone! I’m from India and I’m passionate about teaching German. Learning German has been a rewarding journey for me, and I truly enjoy helping others develop their language skills and gain confidence in German.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy travelling, playing badminton, and reading books. I believe that learning a language should be enjoyable, practical, and engaging, and I look forward to helping my students discover the joy of learning German!

About the lesson

Learn German with a clear, practical and personalized approach

With over 10 years of experience teaching German online, I help students build confidence and develop all four essential language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

Whether you are starting German from scratch or preparing for A1, A2, or B1, my lessons are adapted to your level, learning style, and personal goals.

How my classes work

In our first lesson, I assess your current level and understand what you want to achieve. Based on this, I create a structured learning plan that focuses on steady progress and practical communication.

My lessons typically include:

Vocabulary building with useful everyday expressions
Grammar explained clearly with simple examples
Speaking practice to develop confidence and fluency
Listening activities using level-appropriate audio and dialogues
Reading practice with interesting and practical texts
Writing exercises with detailed corrections and feedback
Pronunciation practice to help you speak more naturally
Regular revision and practice to strengthen what you have learned

I provide carefully selected e-books, worksheets, exercises, and other learning materials according to your level and learning objectives.

For children and adults

I teach both children and adults and adapt my teaching style accordingly. For younger learners, I use engaging activities, visual materials, stories, games, and age-appropriate exercises to make German enjoyable and easy to understand.

For adults, I focus on practical communication and the specific reasons they are learning German—whether for work, travel, studies, exams, relocation, or personal interest.

A supportive learning environment

I believe that students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My classes are friendly, encouraging, and interactive, with plenty of opportunities for you to participate and practise.

My goal is not simply to teach German grammar, but to help you understand the language, use it confidently, and enjoy the learning process.

If you are looking for a patient and experienced German tutor, feel free to book a 30-minute trial lesson. We can discuss your goals, assess your current level, and create a learning plan that works for you.

I look forward to helping you on your German-learning journey!

Perfect! Shyam is a serious and effective German teacher who provides a structured approach to learning the language. He focuses on building a strong foundation in pronunciation, grammar, and basic conversation, which makes his lessons particularly valuable for beginners.

He is a stern and disciplined teacher, but that actually helps keep the learning process focused and productive. I found his teaching method very effective and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to build solid fundamentals in German.

Finding a tutor who can keep a student genuinely engaged with German week after week is no small feat.

Shyam has been working with my daughter on German over the past couple of months, and his approach stands out for its consistency and patience. Rather than relying on rote drills, he breaks down grammar and vocabulary in a way that feels structured and approachable, giving students the space and confidence to actually use the language.

A sincere note of appreciation for an educator who brings genuine structure and care to his teaching.

I found Shyam on Superprof, seeking his help to practice speaking German. He's been great at ensuring I learn the nuances of speaking correct German. He extended his teaching beyond 'speaking' and helped me learn Grammar and Writing as well. He completely tailors the sessions to my specific learning needs. I enjoy every bit of learning with him.
I highly recommend Shyam if you are 'serious' about learning German in a friendly manner.

What motivates you to teach & why?
The passion for the language motivates me the most. I learnt English and Tamil since school and German was a language I learnt for many years now. Passion to excel in a language motivates me to teach and share it with others.
When did you start developing an interest in your subject area?
After my Bachelor degree, I always had a passion to teach. Offline became online later on adding to my teaching interest.
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
I feel hard-work, sincerity and dedication in what one does makes one a role model to himself or herself. Circumstances forced me to involve myself in a profession that requires these skills. Hence, I believe I'm a role model myself.
What is the biggest obstacle you had to overcome in mastering your craft?
Preparation, time and understanding the fundamentals add to the major obstacle. Once this foundation is laid, you can take the extra mile.
In your opinion, what makes someone excel in your subject area?
Strong foundation and passion for the language makes one excel in the area. Adhering to time schedules and good rapport between student and teacher adds to the weightage.
What would you say to a student who says, "This is too difficult, I give up!"?
Challenging yourself is the only way to excel. Set your goals and be sincere in the approach and you would never say ' I give up'.
How does someone become a Super Prof?
Good rapport with the students and considering them as your friends is the only way to becoming a Super Prof. Constant feedback helps in improvising on teaching.
