About Julian
I'm Julian, a long time player and devotee of the classical guitar, one of the most wonderful (and underrated) musical instruments in the world.
I'm not a music teacher by trade - I'm a product manager for a fitness website (!) and I love to play the classical guitar in my spare time. As a younger man I used to take part in competitions and play at social events, such as weddings. One of my finest moments as a player was to make it to the national final of the Lions International Music Competition, competing against some of the finest young guitarists in the country. Not bad for a guy playing his guitar as a hobby in his dorm room doing an English degree, against music undergrads practicing 6 hours a day at music college.
I do however come from a family who made a living out of fine and rare classical guitars. My Dad was a music teacher and one of the most well known classical guitar brokers in the world. So it's fair to say it's in my blood, and something I am deeply passionate about.
If you heard the classical guitar somewhere on the radio (don't know if people still listen to that these days?) or on the internet and thought to yourself "I would love to be able make music like that", then I'd love to kick start your journey with the guitar.
The guitar - and music - is one of the greatest pleasures in my life, and hopefully it can be for you too.

I like to have people up and playing as soon as possible without too much theoretical preamble. Ultimately I will teach you how to play so I want to keep you engaged from the start, and playing exercises and pieces alike.
Rudiments of music reading and basic theory will be covered, and detailed explanations of core practical techniques.
My lessons are mainly for beginners to the instrument, however if you are looking for some tips on improvement perhaps I can help!
Lessons are typically an hour but I can be flexible with timings.
