About Dianne
My name is Dianne Shiels. I’m a lifetime learner who has been retired for a number of years. I love designing interesting experiences for children of primary school age and I particularly encourage them to have input into lessons as well. I have a love of art, literature, travelling, cooking, animals and thinking. I’m kind, approachable and a good listener. I respect children and love to encourage them to be confident learners. I have high expectations but provide plenty of support to achieve those standards. I love laughing and enjoying life.

I design my lessons firstly by establishing my students’ goals for specific learning. I observe what skills and knowledge students bring to lessons. I target their needs based on the next step they need to acquire. I design lessons that utilise thinking skills, multiple intelligence information, sensory learning, problem solving and critical thinking techniques. My lessons allow students to gain confidence in what they know and to articulate what they know. This enables metacognition combined with responsive evaluation and reflective assessment. I personally want my students to enjoy learning and not think of it as a chore that they are not comfortable about.
