About Derek
I am a graduate of language and translation from DCU (French & Japanese) who has lived and worked in Japan for 3 years. After spending so much time learning languages, I know many of the challenges facing people from levels, time, confidence, etc., and I would be honored if I could help even one person feel confident enough to communicate in a new language.

I base my lessons around the unique interests of my students. If they have an interest in cinema, I will bring in films as listening and cultural practice, or music if that suits. I will also tailor the lessons to the comfort level of each student.

Having done a Bachelor Degree and a Masters Degree in Japanese and French I would highly recommend Derek to teach anybody in both off these languages also found that he is very patient with people and also makes them very comfortable plus never puts any pressure on the person whom wishs to learn and would never embarrasse anyone of any mistakes they make.
Derek is a great tutor, he has a lot of patience for beginers like myself and goes out of his way to help explain things in a really easy to understand way. Really friendly and and an excellent teacher!
