About Charlene
Hi! I’m Charlene, a Computer Science graduate from the University of Washington. I also spent about a year and a half working as a Math Center tutor at Diablo Valley College, where I helped students with different backgrounds and learning styles.
I really enjoy helping students feel more comfortable with subjects that may seem confusing or intimidating at first. I’m patient, friendly, and always happy to explain something in a different way if it doesn’t make sense the first time.
I like to focus on understanding the “why” behind a problem instead of just memorizing steps. My goal is to make lessons feel relaxed and encouraging, while still helping students build strong problem-solving skills and confidence.
I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace. There’s no pressure to get everything right immediately — we’ll work through it together until it clicks!

My lessons are personalized, practical, and adapted to each student’s learning style and goals. I focus on helping students truly understand the concepts instead of simply memorizing steps.
During each lesson, I break down difficult topics into clear, manageable explanations, work through examples together, and give students time to practice independently with guidance when needed. I also encourage questions and make sure students feel comfortable asking for clarification at any point.
Depending on the student’s needs, lessons can include homework help, exam preparation, review of class material, practice problems, or learning new concepts ahead of class.
My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students can build confidence, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and become more independent learners.
