About Edward

Shw'mae! My name is Edward and at the time of writing this, I am 28 years old and I am from South Wales just outside of Cardiff. As I said before, I had most of my education through the medium of English, so asking for help with homework was often difficult. However, now that we are living in a digital age, I want to give everyone the same opportunity that I never had. I am an open-minded individual who is also flexible. I am not the sort that cares about 'the correct type of Welsh'. Just passionate about helping you speak, write and sing (if you want but I'm tone deaf) in its most basic form. Just helping you use it and teach you about the Welsh culture, no matter where you are from or how much you know; be it a lot or nothing.

About the lesson

Classes may start with online but as you progress, I will help you with your Welsh in the world. Typical lessons can be between 1 hour - 30 mins depending on the individual. With me, there is no right or wrong dialect, just a willingness to learn this beautiful language! We will have a look at what phrases/words you already know and see where we can build up from there. Welsh is very phonetic so to begin, with we will learn the Welsh alphabet and then on to greetings. We will then progress on how to maintain a conversation in Welsh. I will recommend different resources that would help you absorb the language. Different to that green bird! I am also able to help children with developing their Welsh language skills for skills and young people for their GCSEs. I came from an English speaking home whilst all of my education was through the medium of Welsh. I understand how difficult it is for parents to help their children with Welsh medium homework. After school, I went on to Aberystwyth University and I did my degree through the medium of Welsh. It was also there that I gained experience in teaching Welsh as a second language with the Welsh Students' Union of Aberystwyth (UMCA). Since then, I have done many roles that required speaking Welsh.
