About Sam
I am a degree qualified, self-employed, married mother. I attended Wycombe Abbey School for 5 years and later went on to study at the University of Bristol, graduating in 2004. I have provided tuition to individuals and small groups in Spanish, French and Maths for around twenty years now. I have supported all age groups, from children from the age of 4 and adults in their 70s. I have helped young people get through ISEB tests, and helped all ages of students to achieve their GCSEs and A Level targets. I have also supported several young people whose parents have made the choice to homeschool them, but who needed help with my specific subjects. My own son has been accepted into Charterhouse now (no doubt, in no small part, due to his mother's expert tuition!!) which frees up more time in my day to allow me to expand my tuition hours.

Each individual has specific goals and a unique way of learning. Since I am now approaching 50, styles of teaching have changed over the decades since I was taught the subjects myself, so am happy to take a more traditional or a more modern approach - and with children, to ensure that we are following the same approach taken by their school. My general view is that learning while you have fun keeps the brain focused. Shorter sessions for younger students (minimum half an hour) may work better - particularly with very young children. I usually recommend an hour for a class, but am happy to offer up to two hour sessions if required. Your reasons for reaching out to a tutor may be with a specific goal in mind (ISEB/ GCSE/ A-Level etc) or you may simply wish to learn for the sake of learning. I'm happy to accommodate your goals. The approach and focus of your/ your child's sessions will be tailored to your/ their unique learning style. I have a degree from Bristol University in Hispanic Studies and spent many years living in Spain, so am able to offer Spanish tuition to A Level standard. My father's native language was French and we have always spent a lot of time in France over the years, so I can offer French to GCSE standard. I have an A Level qualification in Maths and offer tuition to GCSE standard. I have tutored all three subjects to these qualification levels for around twenty years now. I am based in Sunningdale, Ascot and able to offer classes between 9am and 6pm, Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings until midday.

Sam tutored my grandson in the leadup to his ISEB exams. They had great fun - you could hear the laughter coming down the corridor sometimes - and he was accepted by all three of his senior school choices (Bradfield, Cranleigh and Charterhouse). She has since given him occasional Maths, Spanish and French support - mainly on the approach to school exams and for CE.
Sam is an excellent tutor. She is very friendly, knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to make sure that my son understands the topics being covered.
I would highly recommend her.Sam has taught my son French (although she knows seven languages) for about two years now. She's engaging, bubbly and he's improved so much. Money totally well spent!!
My son had extra Maths and French classes with Sam for about 18 months. He always looked forward to the lessons and got excellent grades in both subjects.

I generally advise that tuition take place at my home - particularly for children. It's easier for them to focus without all the distractions and comforts of home (phone/ snacks/ siblings/ pets etc). Travel costs are based on the journey time and charged at the same rate as tuition time.
