About Thadyn
Hi there! In case you're wondering, my name rhymes with "Aiden"..."like Aiden with a 'T-H' in front" is what I usually tell people. I am a graduate student at Florida State University studying Piano Performance & Pedagogy...essentially, I am learning how to become an even better piano teacher. Right now, I am studying with Dr. Stijn De Cock and Dr. Diana Dumlavwalla at FSU! I have been playing piano for over 20 years, but I've been performing regularly for the past 15 years all over the United States. I graduated with my Bachelor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the University of Oklahoma, studying with Dr. Igor Lipinski. Before that, I studied with Dr. Hyunsoon Whang at a small university in my hometown. I also run my own private piano studio in Tallahassee, FL, called Note in Hand. There I teach private piano lessons, music theory, and composition to students in the community. I am also a collegiate member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and I am the Treasurer for FSU's Collegiate Chapter, (concealed information)

My teaching philosophy is based on a catchphrase: "Never leave them stranded." In short, my goal in teaching is never to let a student feel unequipped to meet their goals. My teaching provides your student with tools and critical thinking strategies to achieve the correct answer. While I am primarily a piano teacher, these lessons are best designed for high school students in AP Music Theory, or undergraduate Music Theory courses. I can also absolutely teach private piano lessons upon request.
