About Geburah

I received my Bachelor of Science degree studying Honours Biomedical Science. During my four years as an undergraduate I began teaching first years students during my second year and then continued throughout the remainder of my time as an undergrad. I have since seen most of those students graduate from their University programs and move on to get their Medical degree, start up their own companies, and begin graduate studies as researchers. In total I have more than 5 years experience as a Teaching Assistant for University level undergraduate Biology courses which encompasses not only first years. I have taught courses for third year students and supervised fourth year students completing Senior Honours Projects in Biology. I have taught approximately 500 students many of which have since found success in their areas of interest and I have often been praised on my ability to explain difficult concepts in a variety of ways based on the needs of my students. I love to teach and I love Biology. Currently as a graduate student pursuing my PhD, I have also had experience grading term papers and assignments as well as midterms and exams for all levels of Biology undergraduate courses.

About the lesson

My teaching method ranges from lecture style, hands-on learning, problem sets, and lead-by-example styles. The most honest thing that I can say is that I choose my approach based on what is the most engaging for students and easy to understand based on the content. I structure any lessons based on what is expected for students to know given their level, but I also include content that puts them in the best position to excel in upper levels as I know and have personal experience with the expectations regarding the progression of knowledge as students move from their first to last year in University level Biology. I can teach anyone from visual learners to those who learn best just by reading or discussing a topic and my characteristics as a tutor consists of being understanding, patient, eager, knowledgeable and driven to see my students succeed.
