About Rinat

⸻ My name is Rinat Zaripov. I graduated with honors from the Russian Academy of Arts, Faculty of Architecture, and was awarded the Repin Medal. I spent countless hours in the anatomy classes studio, constantly drawing and painting, and received top marks in both. I have taught students in Argentina and China, held several solo exhibitions, and founded my own interior design studio, which over the years has earned multiple prestigious awards. Now living in Australia, I’m launching a new interior design studio, while continuing to attend regular life drawing sessions. In parallel, I am passionate about teaching drawing and painting, as I believe I have valuable knowledge to share — and I see this as an important cultural contribution. About the lesson

I teach only in person, following the classical academic approach. In the great art academies, drawing has always been taught through direct interaction — with the teacher drawing beside the student or correcting on the work itself. This activates mirror neurons and helps learning happen naturally, through both action and observation. My method is 20% theory, 80% practice — focused, effective, and grounded in centuries-old tradition. You may begin with simple forms or go straight into complex subjects like the human figure — but always with careful, guided correction and explanation. I was trained at the Russian Imperial Academy of Arts and awarded the Repin Medal. My teaching follows the lineage of Pavel Chistyakov, passed on to his students like Ilya Repin and Valentin Serov, and continued through generations of artists. These principles were preserved and passed on — including today in the growing Chinese academic schools that adapted this method with great success. If you’re genuinely serious about learning to draw, I offer the kind of deep insights and practice that can transform your artistic understanding — things rarely taught in modern programs or online. We will draw from life, study perspective, copy the old masters, explore light and shadow, paint with watercolor and draw with pencils and pastels, study anatomy and the human figure, go on plein air sessions, and explore aesthetics.

I only offer weekday morning classes from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM for $100 per hour, either in your home or in a public space like a library.
If you'd like to book an evening or weekend class, the price will increase to $120 per hour.
