About James

I'm a working actor and a graduate of Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

Since graduating, I have worked in theatre, film and television for companies such as the BBC, Channel 5 and ETT (English Touring Theatre). I have taught and directed students of all ages for almost a decade.

I love storytelling and I want to help you tell the best story you can, whether that's a classical monologue you're struggling with for a drama school audition or just enhancing your confidence and clarity when communicating in life or at work.

Everyone has something interesting about them and my aim is that we can tap into that together and bring out the best in you!

About the lesson

Whether you're struggling with a classical speech for a drama school audition or just want to achieve more clarity and ease when communicating, I create a comfortable, encouraging space where you can relax and develop confidence as a springboard to doing further work.

For drama school auditions and actors:
Text analysis; handling audition nerves; vocal and physical work; improvisation and a variety of other techniques.

For non-actors:
We will use drama school techniques to improve your clarity and confidence in communication, whether that be at school, work or just life in general.

With all students, the essential approach remains the same - everyone brings something unique and special to the table and uncovering and enhancing that will make you stand out!

I know James from the Rose Theatre when he was teaching my daughter in her first acting classes. I got the impression that he created a very 'safe space' for the children to explore their voice and acting creativity. My daughter's self esteem, confidence and self expression grew quickly.
My daughter says (I'm paraphrasing) that James was very clear and organised on the structure of the lesson but allowed freedom and creativity within the structure.

James has originated two projects I have written. A play and a film. He is not only a wonderful and talented actor and collaborator but a deeply inspiring person to be around. I would wholeheartedly recommend him.
