About Nick
Tutoring is ideal for me, because I enjoy working 1:1. It's pretty clear when my students don't understand something, and I am skilled and patient enough to help them figure it out. I'm 42 years old, just finished teaching high school with students who speak Arabic, French, Spanish and English. I also worked in Prague, Czech Republic for 5 years teaching English, so I am quite well suited to help students who are not from English-speaking countries. I graduated from UCSD in Microbiology, so I am most skilled teaching math or science, but I have a lot of experience teaching English too. All that being said, what I love to teach the most is meditation! I'm also a published author and run a publishing company called Zen Activist Press. My most recent book is a children's book called "Just Bee", which you can find on Amazon.com or other major retailers. I also enjoy backpacking, camping, rock-climbing, traveling, gardening, working with my hands and community organizing.

I customize lesson plans according to what my students need. As I've taught preschool up to adults, with an Adult Education teaching credential who has also worked as a vice principal at a middle school and a biology teacher at a high school, I am quite adept at adapting to what my students and the situation needs. I'm excellent at explaining things and using visual aids. As I am currently moving to Europe in August 2025, my ideal student is someone who would need lessons after school in an Asian country after that date. However, I am able to offer lessons before that while I am based in the United States.
