About Nikhil

Hi! My name is Nikky, and I am passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals. I graduated from Narrabundah College in 2024 with a 99+ ATAR, excelling in Specialist Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and English. Currently, I am pursuing studies in Doctor of Dental Surgery at University of Melbourne, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge to help others succeed.

I have 4+ years of tutoring experience (700+ hours), during which I have worked with more than 100 students in both group settings and one-on-one sessions. This experience has given me a deep understanding of different learning styles and how to tailor lessons to meet each student’s unique needs.

I tutor from years 7-12. I specialise in advanced (early) college preparation and in-depth college tutoring.

About the lesson

Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics are not just about solving problems—it’s about understanding the concepts that underpin them. I believe that building a solid conceptual foundation is essential for mastering these subjects, as it enables students to approach both familiar and unfamiliar problems with confidence. Rather than relying solely on repetitive exercises, I emphasize the “why” behind techniques, helping students connect the dots and develop critical thinking skills that go beyond rote memorization.

My teaching approach focuses on filling gaps in foundational knowledge and building skills that are adaptable to more complex topics. Many students struggle with maths, chemistry and physics because they lack the groundwork needed to progress. I take the time to identify these gaps and address them early, ensuring students are well-prepared for current and future coursework. Whether it’s algebra, calculus, organic chemistry or kinematics, I tailor my lessons to each student’s needs and learning style.

A key element of my method is fostering problem-solving intuition. By guiding students through a variety of questions and encouraging them to think critically, I help them develop strategies to tackle challenges independently. I also integrate pre-learning into my sessions, giving students a head start on new material before it’s taught in school. This allows them to use class time for deeper understanding and to approach exams with greater confidence.

I provide a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building their skills. With my experience and a wealth of resources—including textbooks, past exams, and custom practice materials—I aim to help each student transform uncertainty into mastery and develop a lifelong appreciation for these subjects.
