About Dimitris

About me

Hello! My name is Dimitris, and I am a Greek Philologist and experienced Greek language teacher with more than 12 years of experience teaching Greek to adults, children and young people.

I hold a BA in Greek Philology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), one of Greece’s most historic and highly regarded universities, with a long-standing academic tradition in Greek language, literature and Classical Studies. My studies gave me a deep and comprehensive understanding of both Modern and Ancient Greek, as well as Greek literature, linguistics, history and the classical tradition that has shaped the Greek language and culture.

Throughout my teaching career, I have had the opportunity to work with students of very different ages, backgrounds, abilities and learning goals. This experience has taught me that every student learns differently, which is why I always try to create a supportive, encouraging and personalised learning environment.

I am passionate about the Greek language and about sharing not only the language itself, but also the culture, history, literature and traditions that make Greek so unique. I particularly enjoy helping students discover the connections between the language they are learning and the fascinating history behind it.

Whether you are learning Greek because of your love of Greece, your family heritage, a relationship with a Greek-speaking person, your studies, your plans to live in Greece, or simply because you want to learn a beautiful and historically important language, I would be delighted to support you.

After 12 years of teaching, what I enjoy most is seeing students become more confident and realise that Greek is not as difficult as they initially thought!

About the lesson

My Greek lessons are personalised, engaging and adapted to each student’s individual needs, level and goals. Whether you are a complete beginner, want to improve your conversational Greek, need help with grammar and writing, or would like to explore Greek literature and culture in greater depth, I will tailor each lesson to you.

I teach adults, children and young people, and I work with learners at all levels. Lessons can include:

* Modern Greek from beginner to advanced level
* ️ Conversation and speaking practice
* Grammar and vocabulary
* ️ Reading and writing
* Greek for children and young people
* Academic and exam preparation
* ️ Greek history, culture and literature
* Ancient Greek and Classical Greek
* ️ Practical Greek for travel, living in Greece or communicating with Greek-speaking family and friends

I use a combination of structured teaching, conversation, practical exercises and interactive activities, depending on what works best for you. My aim is not simply to teach you individual words and grammar rules, but to help you understand the language, communicate naturally and develop genuine confidence in Greek.

Whether your goal is to learn Greek from scratch, reconnect with your Greek heritage, support your child’s Greek education, prepare for an exam, or take your existing knowledge to the next level, I will create lessons around your specific objectives.

Every lesson is an opportunity to learn something new, practise what you already know and make measurable progress.
