I’m a committed and enthusiastic GCSE Maths tutor based at John Hampden Grammar School (JHGS), with a passion for helping students unlock their potential in mathematics. Whether it’s guiding students through tricky algebra problems or helping them build exam confidence, I strive to make Maths more accessible and less intimidating. I have a solid background in Maths education, along with practical experience working with secondary school students. I understand the challenges many learners face and take pride in breaking down barriers to understanding — whether that’s boosting the confidence of a struggling student or pushing a high-achiever towards a Grade 9.

About the lesson

Techniques and Teaching Methodology: My tutoring combines structured, syllabus-aligned teaching with tailored support to address each student's specific needs. I focus on: Conceptual clarity – Breaking down complex topics into simple, understandable steps. Problem-solving techniques – Teaching students how to approach and tackle exam-style questions methodically. Active engagement – Encouraging students to participate actively through questioning, worked examples, and mini whiteboard practice. Feedback-driven learning – Providing clear, constructive feedback to guide improvement and correct misconceptions early. Exam preparation – Regular practice with past papers, timed questions, and revision strategies to boost exam performance. I also incorporate visual aids, online platforms, and interactive tools where appropriate to make sessions more dynamic and engaging.
