About Sienna

I have 7 years of experience teaching guitar and hold a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Guitar Performance and Composition. I have worked with students ranging from beginners learning their first chords to advanced learners preparing for recitals, recordings, and performances. My teaching emphasizes integrating technical skill with creative expression, helping students gain confidence and versatility across musical genres.

My teaching philosophy values patience, encouragement, and adaptability. Lessons are personalized to meet individual goals, combining exercises, repertoire, improvisation, and creative exploration. I aim to help learners discover their musical voice while building technical proficiency, performance confidence, and artistic expression.

Outside teaching, I perform, compose, and study new techniques to bring innovative, inspiring material into lessons. Supporting learners as they develop both skill and artistry is profoundly rewarding. I strive to cultivate versatile, expressive, and confident musicians who enjoy both the discipline and the creative satisfaction of playing guitar.

About the lesson

My guitar lessons focus on building a strong technical foundation while fostering creative expression and musical versatility. Lessons include chord voicing, scales, fingerstyle technique, improvisation, solo phrasing, tone shaping, rhythm exercises, sight-reading, and stylistic interpretation across genres including jazz, rock, blues, and classical fusion. I integrate storytelling, real-world song references, guided practice, and performance simulation to make lessons engaging, practical, and meaningful. Students are encouraged to express themselves musically while mastering technical precision and rhythm.

Lesson structure is tailored to student ability. Beginners focus on chord shapes, strumming patterns, note reading, simple melodies, and finger exercises. Intermediate learners develop improvisation, fingerstyle fluency, scale integration, and multi-voice arrangements. Advanced students explore complex solos, improvisation over chord changes, advanced techniques like tapping and sweep picking, musical phrasing, and performance preparation. Every session emphasizes hands-on practice, constructive feedback, and skill application to ensure measurable improvement.

Beyond technique, guitar lessons cultivate creativity, musicality, and confidence in performance. Students develop artistic expression, problem-solving, and musical intuition, learning to connect emotionally with music. My goal is to help learners combine technical mastery with personal expression, enabling them to find their unique musical voice and enjoy the creative journey of guitar playing.
