About Jolene
I discovered my love for the guitar early in life, captivated by the instrument’s versatility and expressive potential. I completed a B.Mus in Guitar Performance, where I refined my technique, repertoire, and performance skills. Over 9 years, I have taught students of all ages, helping beginners learn foundational skills and advanced students develop expressive mastery and performance confidence. My approach combines structured technical instruction with creative exploration, enabling students to build skill while discovering their unique musical voice.
Lessons are personalized to each learner’s needs, integrating exercises, repertoire, improvisation, and performance feedback. I focus on fostering a supportive environment where students feel encouraged to explore, make mistakes, and grow creatively and technically.
Outside teaching, I perform, compose, and explore diverse musical styles, bringing a broad perspective into lessons. Watching students evolve from tentative players into confident, expressive musicians is deeply fulfilling. My mission is to cultivate both technical mastery and artistic expression, inspiring students to make music a meaningful part of their lives.

Guitar lessons are designed to develop both technical mastery and expressive musicianship. Students explore chord construction, scales, fingerstyle technique, strumming patterns, solo phrasing, improvisation, and musical interpretation. Lessons emphasize creative engagement, ear training, rhythm development, and dynamic control. Students work on repertoire spanning multiple genres, learning to express emotion, build confidence, and integrate technical skill with musicality. I create a nurturing environment that encourages experimentation, creativity, and personal growth through music.
Instruction is customized to each student’s experience level. Beginners focus on basic chords, strumming patterns, and simple melodies. Intermediate students develop finger independence, more complex chord progressions, soloing techniques, and improvisation skills. Advanced learners refine expressive phrasing, tone shaping, advanced techniques, and performance readiness, integrating all aspects of musical interpretation. Each session includes demonstration, guided practice, feedback, and goal setting to ensure progress and mastery of both technical and expressive aspects.
Beyond technique, guitar lessons help students cultivate creativity, self-discipline, and confidence. Learners gain problem-solving skills, patience, and a deeper connection to music. My goal is to empower students to express themselves fully through the guitar, blending technical precision with artistic interpretation, and to instill a lifelong passion for music.
