About Douglas
Music exists because it transmits a feeling that words fail to capture in simple translation. Teaching guitar serves as my primary vehicle for sharing the rhythmic life I brought from Lima 13 years ago. My classroom functions as a space where lead guitar technique meets deep improvisation. Over the course of my career, I have mentored 400 students across various levels of proficiency. I focus on ear training, complex barre chords, and the technical demands of grade exam preparation. Reading sheet music remains a fundamental pillar of my instructional approach. I help my students refine their acoustic technique through structured practice routines. Songwriting also occupies a central place in my pedagogy for those seeking original expression. Balancing technical maintenance with creative soloing keeps my daily routine interesting. Nothing feels quite as rewarding as watching a student finally nail a difficult passage.
