About Amara
Walking through the dusty streets of Santiago, I carried my first guitar like a compass. These hands have spent 11 years gigging across stages in Australia while mastering the intricate rhythms of Latin music. I hold a music degree that informs everything from the way I teach barre chords to how I break down electric technique for you.
Many of my students are adults returning to the instrument or self-taught players who feel stuck in a rut. You might want to explore the soul of flamenco or simply understand how your favorite songs are built. I emphasize ear training and music theory to provide the structure that many independent learners lack. My goal is to help you move past technical plateaus through improvisation and soloing.
Reading tabs is useful, but hearing the music is essential for growth. I want to see you gain the confidence to play with clarity and intention.

You decide where we start because your goals determine the path we take together. A free trial session allows me to assess your current level and listen to your musical aspirations. We will work on the specific technical hurdles that stop you from playing fluently.
My background in the Chilean nueva-cancion tradition brings a unique focus on rhythm and authenticity to our time together. I adapt the pace to ensure you feel supported whether we are focusing on chord voicings or advanced improvisation. It is rewarding to see students find their own sound after years of playing alone. I look forward to hearing the music you create.
