About Mason
Twenty years I've played guitar and other instruments, so I know this is a life long love story for me, and even before that I was inspired by what music can do for the human spirit. I find the same energy exists whether I'm composing a new song or dissecting an existing song. Music is something human beings have always gravitated towards and I think it's because it's one of the only ways we have found to abstractly connect with one another (and ourselves). Songs are compact stories of our lives that we get to revisit again and again, almost like invisible movies.
Diving into the songs we love can unlock some of the magic so that you better understand the things you love about a band, style, or that organic rhythmic head nod you do to your most played songs and through that understand yourself more.
I play a variety of different styles because there's no room for snobbiness in music - there's always something exciting in every genre of music.

My approach is always about the student - what makes you want to play and what kind of guitar player do you want to be? A typical lesson will be 30 min of fundamentals and another 30 min for exploring your favorite songs through the guitar and why they attract your ear.
What sets me apart as teacher is that I think music is a language and genre is just dialect. All music is made from the same ingredients, just served up in a different presentation. Classical music can go just as hard as a metal or pop song.
My lessons are for all ages, just come with some curiosity and we'll be golden.
