About Jason
I have been playing live for over 30 years and teaching for over 20. I have worked as a guitar teacher in several music schools, where I had 15-20 regular students at a time. I have also taught from home, when I lived in London, and I had 12 regular students. All of my students made good progress and became proficient players, several who went on to become professional musos.

I tailor each lesson to my students needs and desires. If you just want to learn how to play a few tunes to strum around the campfire then we will spend the majority of time on learning songs. A few basic exercises will still be beneficial to your progress, so we would usually start each lesson with an exercise based on your current ability and desired playing style. I have designed several exercises that will effectively and efficiently speed up your improvement of your playing skills and, just as importantly, your 'ear'. I believe a muso is only as good as their ear. If you can't hear it, then you'll struggle to play it!!
If you are looking to become a highly proficient player, then we will do a 50/50 spilt of exercises and songs. I can teach you to read guitar tab also. There are tabs for just about every song so I am a big believer in building your skills and the online world of songs is your oyster! I can choose songs to suit your ability and push you just slightly out of your comfort zone to help you improve faster. You can also bring songs of your choice along to lesson and if it's slightly above your current level I can modify it and create a simplified version for you to play.
I also have school teaching experience so I understand everybody learns differently. I make it my first priority to get to know your learning style and tailor your tuition to suit.
Overall I am very flexible to your needs and happy to spend the time in whichever fashion you like. Some students have just enjoyed someone to jam with in the past and that is cool too. Basically anything goes. As long as your happy and feeling like you're getting value. I'm also very generous with my time and have been known to go well over the hour for students who are still buzzing and wanting more. Saying that, an hour with me is usually full of different stuff and generally pretty intense, so most students are happy after an hour, having been given plenty to work on (happy to do half hour online if suits). I just love music and if someone is soaking it up and keen I happily give them more. Teaching genuinely makes me feel good and it never feels like work, so if you're looking for someone who will be passionate about getting you playing music then look no further
