About Willa
I have played guitar for over a decade, earning a Master’s in Music Education with a focus on Guitar Performance. Over 8 years of teaching, I have worked with learners of all levels, helping them develop technical skills, musicality, and performance confidence. My teaching style combines structured practice, creativity, and encouragement to ensure students feel both challenged and supported.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, integrating exercises, repertoire, improvisation, and performance preparation. I emphasize building strong fundamentals while fostering personal expression, helping learners find their unique voice on the instrument. Mistakes are welcomed as learning opportunities, fostering resilience, independence, and curiosity.
Beyond teaching, I continue performing, composing, and exploring musical styles to bring real-world experience into lessons. Seeing students progress from tentative practice to confident, expressive performance is deeply rewarding. My goal is to help learners not only master the guitar technically but also develop joy, creativity, and lifelong passion for music.

Guitar lessons become effective when students explore both technical skill and expressive freedom. My lessons focus on chord progressions, fingerstyle techniques, scales, improvisation, and musical phrasing. I emphasize practice strategies that reinforce skill development while encouraging creativity, helping learners build confidence and independence. Each lesson includes practical exercises, repertoire, and real-world examples to keep students motivated and engaged.
I adapt the structure to each learner. Beginners start with basic chords, strumming, simple melodies, and rhythm exercises to build a solid foundation. Intermediate students develop fingerstyle techniques, barre chords, improvisation, and stylistic interpretation. Advanced learners refine tone, phrasing, soloing, and performance preparation, with emphasis on expressive playing and stage presence. Constructive guidance and repetition ensure steady, measurable progress.
My aim is to nurture both technical skill and musical expression. Lessons encourage curiosity, patience, and creativity, helping students tackle challenges with confidence. Over time, learners develop a strong connection with the instrument, enjoy improvising, and feel capable of performing solo or in ensembles. I strive to make every session inspiring, helping students grow as versatile, expressive guitarists who feel confident and motivated to explore music fully.
