About Martha
I have lived in Scoltsand, England, South Africa and Canada. This ensures a serious comprehension of differing cultures and can share some reflection to a student via one on one basis. These comparisons have sometimes lent themselves to comparable humour. For example I still have Scottish accent which usually is comprehended on the day and this relates to humour...

My students were from multicultural backgrounds and I ensured that I had knowledge of their particular 'home' countries and utlised this knowledge when appropriate. Humour played an important in the teaching delivery,
I also have a serious experience on a one to one student basic

It is my pleasure to recommend your immediate enrolment of Martha Turnbull as your Tutor. She worked with us in the Indigenous area of Curtin University and her responsibility was to ensure that the Bridging Course essays fulfilled all English language requirements: spelling, grammar, referencing and of course submission on due dates. The students‘ enjoyment of Martha’s teaching was based on her Indigenous social history knowledge as well as their contemporary culture and her extended humour!
I always thought I would ‘sail’ through High School as I left Primary level. However, this was not to be. The literature we were exposed to and the complexity of our English language fascinated me; but this had overlooked poetry and other usage of the language. Essentially what I’m saying is that to have a dedicated tutor was one of the best decisions I have made to date and is highly recommended. I can now contradict my mates with confidence when their grammar or spelling are erroneous. How about mis-spelling that one!
Son of friend of Tutor and appreciates the tutor experience. If I had not located the opportunity to achieve a tutor for my mid study of: English language and I do not think I would be where I am today – in the medical field. Of course, I had no idea what to expect but my experience was a ‘learning’ one from the word go and the other huge bonus was that I was a ‘mature age’ (ahem) university student in my second semester of my first year. The result for me was to understand the sophistication of the English language, managing the spelling and grammar as well as the history of the most prevalent of ‘other languages’ away from the dominant culture.
Highly recommended’ – Martha’s ‘bestie’.The initial introduction to the Tutor format will be to familiarise the student with the history of the English language and its journey through the world. This was achieved of course by the British colonisation of many countries/areas of that time. Naturally to learn a foreign language when it was not a requisite of occupation was a very difficult task but this was forcibly achieved in many places during the colonisation period. The forcing of communication in a foreign language prevailed and still does in contemporary times but of course pronunciation was also a serious issue even in the British isles where different accents prevailed and are still an interesting issue in the prevalence of the English language. It has often been noted 'there are no synonyms in the English language' which makes it one of the most complex of languages around the world.
However, the history of the English language is almost just as interesting as learning the language. As I moved along through my study at Curtin University, I struggled a lot with my English language comprehension and application. When it came ‘essay’ time in the semester my Tutor Martha set aside some time for us to closely address my difficulties. In many ways it was like High School again but my necessary learning became more and more worthwhile and exciting and with some humour, which I had never imagined I would touch upon. I am now comfortable to write about most issues (not political), and o enter competitions and ‘short story’ awards.
I enjoyed the whole scenario with regard to English Language and there is no doubt more students who could enjoy and benefit from the tuition of Martha.View more recommendations
