About Peter
My name is Peter Neuner, I'm retired, and I've been a hobby musician for decades. Initially, I mainly played pop songs in my youth before becoming increasingly drawn to jazz. Professionally, I'm a retired dermatologist, and for the last two decades, I've been intensively involved with jazz guitar, including teaching for several years. I also had a band made up of fellow hobby musicians and played several gigs. Currently, I live in Klosterneuburg and also with my wife in Mosonmagyarova, Hungary, where I can give lessons in German and English. As a guitarist, I'd describe my skill level as good for someone with a solid grasp of the basics, but who plays more practically than trying to dissect every piece theoretically, because I don't believe that really gets you very far. My favorite place for jazz festivals is Diersbach in Upper Austria, where I really enjoy the rather freely improvised music.

My passion is playing chords and melodies simultaneously on the guitar, or improvising over chords that I store in my loop station. I have experience in jazz harmony, where I teach chord progressions including the appropriate tensions, as well as improvising over chords. I teach everything in a very practical way and don't overcomplicate the theory of my techniques; on the contrary, the main goal is for you to enjoy the music. Of course, the chord foundation on which many standards are based will be explained, so that beginners can first learn and practice these sequences. Therefore, my lessons are accessible to all age groups and also to beginners interested in jazz. I hope that my explanation has sparked some interest and I look forward to hearing from you.
