About Thomas
Working with singer-songwriters who want to own their stage presence keeps my teaching sharp. Most of my time involves helping artists transition from bedroom players to gigging musicians.
I have been playing acoustic sets for 8 years across the local scene. Teaching 428 students has shown me that strumming patterns and chord transitions are the real hurdles for most people. Music sounds best when the rhythm locks in with the hum of the strings under your fingers. Practicing soloing at home can feel isolated, so I build custom backing tracks that mimic the energy of a live acoustic set. We work through acoustic technique, barre chords, and fingerpicking while ear training keeps your improvisation grounded in the melody. I emphasize rhythm guitar to ensure your songwriting has a solid foundation before we add the flair of a lead line.
You will find that these methods make grade exam prep feel like a natural part of your creative process rather than a chore. My goal is to get you comfortable enough to experiment with your own material during our time together. It makes me happy to see students finally find their own groove.
