About Martin
As a hospital Radiographer for 12 years, I have been actively involved in helping many degree level students with their studies. Radiography is a scientific subject, but has a large component of coursework essays as well as exams. I have also taught Historic Fencing at my own club in Manchester for 6 years, which is part of my lifelong love of Medieval History, and I am a competent guitarist. When I lived in Manchester, I spent 4 years at 207 Field Hospital, as an Army Reserve Radiographer and Physical Training Instructor. This was a very interesting time, when I learnt a lot about personal skills and leadership. In the future I hope to relocate to Uganda for charity work with Kasese Humanist Schools!

The hardest thing about writing is organising your thoughts on a subject into a beginning, a middle and an end. The start should answer the question in a general way, and each paragraph after that should have its own topic. The end should sum up everything covered, and ideally take a step back and offer an opinion, to make the examiner think "What an intelligent young person". Once we can do that, we look at language features and structure, try to build our active and passive vocabularies, creative writing, then finally look at any specific sources you need to revise, such as Shakespeare or poetry. I believe in doing a lot of work from past papers to make sure we can actually write these things, and not just talk about them! I picture myself as a friendly big brother whenever I'm teaching, which seems to be effective according to my feedback on Tutorful. I also have some experience of helping foreign nationals with the IELTS and OET tests, including medical professionals. My final thought is that the most rewarding part of online tutoring has been helping people express themselves better in their writing, and I look forward to meeting you all!
