About Mathew
I'm an experienced swim instructor (5+ years) and former competitive swimmer. Going to school close to the beach, I grew up swimming and always love the opportunity to teach friends and colleagues this important skill, which I believe is an integral part of the sand-and-surf culture in Australia!

About the lesson

Lessons are 1 h long (1-2 days per week) during the summer.
We will learn the following through a series of sessions:
1. Safety rules and protocols for a first-time swimmer
2. How to control your breathing in the water
3. How to conserve energy and stay afloat in the deep end
4. The three basic strokes (freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke)
5. The advanced stroke (butterfly)
You can expect to have a strong grasp of the fundamentals within 10-12 lessons :)
