About Václav

Hello! I’m Venceslau, a native Catalan teacher from Barcelona with studies in Catalan Philology. I have some experience teaching in schools, but for the past six years I’ve been fully focused on online teaching, helping students from around the world learn Catalan in an engaging and practical way. My lessons are interactive and personalised, emphasising natural communication through question-and-answer exercises and practice-based activities. I guide students in both speaking and writing, providing corrections and strategies tailored to your goals. As a writer of poetry and short stories in Catalan, I bring a rich cultural and creative perspective to my teaching, making lessons enjoyable and inspiring. When I’m not teaching or writing, I love travelling, reading, and discovering new music. I’m excited to help you develop your Catalan skills and gain confidence in both conversation and writing. Let’s start this journey together!

About the lesson

My teaching method is based on full immersion, using Catalan from the very first lesson to facilitate natural and direct learning. Through structured questions and answers, I will provide you with the necessary tools to speak and write in Catalan effectively. I recommend one class per week to maintain minimal continuity, with the option to increase frequency based on your goals and availability. Homework is fundamental in this process; some tasks will be completed in shared Google Docs, where I will highlight errors for you to correct independently, fostering active learning. All study and practice materials are free and tailored to your level, including my own resources and links to online materials. Additionally, I incorporate transcriptions as a learning tool, enabling you to improve rapidly in comprehension and expression. I will also teach you key narrative and discursive strategies to significantly improve your written expression and prepare you for official Catalan exams.
