About Melissa
Hi everyone! My name is Melissa Pappas, and I am a high school senior in CT. I have a deep passion for math: I am currently taking advanced calculus and have a solid foundation in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Precalculus. Beyond my own coursework, I have over 10 hours of formal tutoring experience through Schoolhouse.world and have successfully helped classmates and friends master challenging concepts. I know what it feels like to struggle with a concept, and I love breaking it down into clear, manageable steps My approach is patient, structured, and tailored to each student’s learning style, ensuring they not only understand the material but also feel confident applying it. I use a personalized approach by adapting explanations and examples to your specific learning style - we can adapt to however you learn best!
I use real-world examples to make abstract concepts relatable and focus on confidence building.
A typical lesson plan will look like this:
-A short warm-up to review the previous session or see where you are on the current topic.
-An introduction of new material in slow, manageable steps. We will go through this part slowly.
-I will demonstrate how to do a problem, then we will do multiple questions together.
-You will do a short practice sheet, you will receive your score, and we will work through the missed problems afterward.
-We will wrap up with a recap of key points and a homework plan.
I am able to adjust my teaching pace instantly based on how quickly you grasp the material.
I will also make my lessons extremely interactive and provide plentiful opportunities to ask questions.
