About Sabrina

Hi! My name is Sabrina, and I’m a high school senior at Sage Hill School. I’m a patient and encouraging tutor who enjoys helping students understand challenging concepts and feel more confident in their schoolwork.

I have a strong academic background, particularly in math, and I’m comfortable working with elementary, middle, and high school students. I have taken advanced courses including Calculus, Statistics, Linear Algebra, and Economics, and I enjoy breaking down difficult topics into simple, manageable steps.

As a student myself, I understand that everyone learns differently. I focus on creating a comfortable environment where students can ask questions, make mistakes, and learn at their own pace. My goal is not only to help students complete their assignments, but to help them develop the skills and confidence to eventually solve problems independently.

I’m reliable, organized, and genuinely enjoy working with younger students. I would love to help students reach their academic goals and make school feel a little less overwhelming.

My Approach as a Tutor

My approach to tutoring is centered around making students feel comfortable asking questions and helping them understand the reasoning behind what they are learning, rather than simply giving them the answer. I adjust my teaching style based on each student’s needs, whether they learn best through examples, visual explanations, repetition, or working through problems together.

Teaching Method and Techniques

I usually begin by identifying what the student already understands and where they are getting stuck. From there, I break difficult concepts into smaller steps and explain them in a straightforward way. I like to demonstrate one example first, then have the student try a similar problem while I guide them when needed. I also encourage students to explain their thinking out loud because it helps reveal misunderstandings and builds confidence.

Typical Lesson Plan

A typical lesson begins with a short review of previous material or homework. We then focus on the main concept the student is struggling with, working through examples together. After that, I have the student complete several problems independently so I can make sure they understand the material without relying on my help. We finish by reviewing the most important ideas and identifying anything they should practice before the next session.

What Sets Me Apart

As a student myself, I understand how confusing certain concepts can feel and how difficult it can be to ask for help in class. I try to create a relaxed environment where making mistakes is part of the learning process. I am patient, organized, and willing to explain something in multiple ways until it makes sense. I also focus on helping students become more independent so that they eventually feel confident solving problems on their own.

Who I Tutor

I am best suited to tutoring elementary and middle school students in general academic subjects, as well as high-school students in subjects I have completed successfully. I am particularly comfortable with mathematics, including Algebra, Trigonometry, AP Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, and introductory, and I can also help with AP Economics, English, and general homework support. I am happy to adapt lessons to a student's specific class, assignments, and learning level.
