About Abby

I am a 16-year-old high school student currently studying AP World History, Chemistry, and Algebra 2. I take my academics seriously and enjoy helping other students understand challenging subjects.

In addition to school, I actively participate in volunteer work and pre-health programs, which have helped me develop responsibility, communication skills, and a strong work ethic. I approach tutoring with patience, organization, and professionalism so students feel supported and confident while learning.

My approach as a tutor is to create a structured and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through problems step by step. I try to keep lessons organized and similar to how a classroom teacher might structure a lesson so students feel familiar with the format and can follow along easily.
Algebra 1 and Geometry:
In this tutoring session, we’ll focus on linear equations (including inequalities), quadratic functions, exponential functions, absolute systems of equations and the most important is the reasoning behind every answer. I start each session with a short warm-up. This usually includes two questions that help me see what the student already understands and what they can solve independently. After that, I introduce a new concept and explain it step by step. We then practice together with a few guided problems, usually no more than five. Once the student feels comfortable, they move on to independent practice. At the end of the session, we review their answers together, correct mistakes, and answer any questions they may have.
AP World History:
I focus on helping students understand the bigger historical picture. We begin by reviewing the historical context of the time period. If a student is new to the subject, we briefly start with earlier periods to help build a foundation. Then we introduce the major change, reform, or important development being studied. We compare how this development is different from what existed before. To analyze the topic more deeply, we often work with historical documents, images, or political cartoons. We examine them using several categories such as social, political, interaction with the environment, cultural, economic, and technological factors. Gradually we’ll work through multiple choice, DBQ, LEQ, SAQ, enduring issues essays.
Typical lesson:
Includes a short review, introduction of a new concept, guided practice, and independent work. This structure helps students first understand the material, then apply it with support, and finally try it on their own.
What sets me apart is that I focus on making lessons clear and organized while encouraging students to think through the material themselves. My goal is not just to give answers but to help students understand the reasoning behind each step so they can solve similar problems independently.
My Algebra 1 and Geometry lessons are designed for students in grades 8 through 10. I also provide support for students taking AP World History or global history (8th-10th grade) who need help understanding historical themes, documents, and comparisons between different time periods.
