About Sally

As a freelance arts professional and founder member of Blueprint Theatre, it's important for me to supplement my income with work that complements my vocation. My teaching experience began over 15 years ago as a supply teacher working in various London primary and secondary schools across the curriculum. As my career in the arts developed, I began tutoring children in SATS and 11 plus entrance exam practice, with an emphasis on English and interview technique. I believe the most important thing a tutor can give a child is confidence in themselves and their ability. It’s also vital to have someone other than the parent or main carer imparting knowledge and sharing in the child’s journey from primary to secondary education. Sally tutored my son in English (and self-confidence) to prepare for his 11+ exams. She also helped with his interview prep. His scores went up from a 3 to a 1 in his school reports. Through her tutoring he came on leaps and bounds and his 11+ results were impressive. He ended up being given offers to several very competitive independent secondary schools in London.

Sally is grounded and firm, but fair and connects with the student. My son felt very proud when Sally praised him, as he knew he had done well. I highly recommend Sally, though we used her for 11+ prep, she would also be excellent for children who wish to do better in English.
