About Jessica
Hi! I'm Jess!
I am currently completing my Master of Learning & Teaching (Secondary) whilst working as a Strategy Manager in the media/advertising industry.
I have always been a bit of a self-confessed history nerd, and someone who (although so unbelievably uncool) loved to study and learn... which is why I am making the move into teaching full-time. I have five years of tutoring experience across a range of subject areas, but am looking forward to focusing completely on History and Social Science subjects.
In school, I studied Ancient History, Modern History, Extension History, English Advanced, English Extension and Society & Culture resulting in an ATAR of 98.80, which I credit to actually enjoying the course content - something I hope to impart on all my students.
My favorite part of teaching these subjects is helping students understand the bigger picture; the why. We interact with people from different backgrounds, cultures and nationalities every day, and understanding history allows us to better connect as a society and shape our future based on what we have learned from the past. And, most importantly, in my experience, understanding the bigger picture is one of the keys to getting an A on your next History essay!
I have a genuine passion for the subjects I teach, and I want that to come through in every lesson. I understand that not everyone is as passionate about History as I am (yet!), so I focus on creating a comfortable and supportive learning environment where students can ask questions, challenge ideas and build their confidence, while still working towards meaningful results.

My goal as a History tutor isn’t just to help my students get better marks, but to help them actually understand and enjoy what they are learning. History isn’t just about museums, old buildings and long documentaries; it is the foundation of our society. Understanding the past gives us the perspective to reshape the future and helps us connect with people, cultures and societies beyond our own.
I feel so passionately about this that I am currently transitioning from my career as a Strategy Manager in the media industry into secondary History teaching, through my Master of Learning and Teaching (Secondary).
Through my lessons, I help students achieve their academic goals by developing a deeper and broader understanding of the curriculum, rather than relying on rote learning alone. I want students to understand not just *what* happened, but *why* it happened, why it matters, and how to communicate that understanding effectively in their assessments.
My lessons run for 60 minutes and are conducted entirely online. I tutor Australian students in Years 7–12, with each lesson adapted to the student’s specific needs and goals. This might include catching up on difficult content, preparing for exams, developing essay structure and argument, analyzing sources, or simply building confidence in the subject.
