About Ana

As a bilingual student graduating at 18 with an associate’s degree, I understand how challenging English can feel — especially when trying to turn ideas into clear, confident writing. My English teachers from middle school through college have always encouraged my work, and their support helped me earn consistent A’s, maintain a 3.9 GPA, and develop a genuine love for reading and writing.

Because of this, peers often come to me for help with their essays, whether they need proofreading, clearer expression, or guidance turning their ideas into stronger writing. I’ve helped many classmates raise their grades through honest, supportive feedback and clear explanations.

I believe mistakes are a natural and positive part of learning, and I teach students how to use them to grow. I also believe a positive teacher can completely change a student’s confidence and results when they feel understood and supported. I bring that same encouragement, patience, and professionalism to every lesson, helping students express themselves more clearly and feel proud of their progress.

My Teaching Approach:
I begin every lesson by getting to know the student’s writing voice. I read samples of their previous essays or paragraphs to understand their strengths, recurring patterns, and areas where they feel less confident. I always ask students what they believe they struggle with most, what they do best, and what types of writing they enjoy. This helps me tailor each session to their personal goals and learning style.

From there, I use guided proofreading as a teaching tool. I walk students through their writing step‑by‑step, explaining why certain issues appear and demonstrating how I would revise or strengthen a sentence, idea, or structure. After modeling the process, I give students the space to apply the same strategies on their own so they can build independence and confidence.

A Typical Lesson Plan:
A lesson usually begins with a prompt—either one the student chooses or one I provide based on the type of writing they want to improve. We break down the prompt together, discuss possible directions, and explore how to develop ideas into a clear, full, and compelling response.

I teach students to approach writing as a flexible, creative process rather than a rigid formula. We imagine the final product first, identify what makes it strong, and then reverse‑engineer the steps needed to get there. We brainstorm, map out ideas, and learn to recognize patterns that naturally connect. Once the structure becomes clear, we place each idea where it fits best in the essay.

What Sets Me Apart:
I offer a balance of honest, constructive feedback and supportive guidance. Because I’m a dual‑credit student graduating at 18 with an associate’s degree, I understand both the expectations of high‑school teachers and the standards of college‑level writing. My approach is patient, personalized, and focused on helping students truly understand their own writing process, not just fixing mistakes for them.

Who My Lessons Are For:
Middle school students developing foundational writing skills

High school students working on essays, assignments, and classwork

Students who want help with proofreading, idea development, or writing structure

Anyone who wants clearer, stronger, more confident writing
