About Joan
Walking through the hospital wards as a 4th year medical student at UNSW requires an intense grasp of clinical science. My 6 years of experience stems from a consistent focus on explaining complex biological systems to students from various backgrounds. Before reaching this stage, I secured a 99 plus ATAR by mastering the intricacies of human anatomy and cellular processes.
I hold a BSc Adv Biomed from UNSW which serves as the foundation for my current clinical training. Helping college freshmen and AP Biology students navigate the complexities of evolution and natural selection is where I feel most useful. I often recall the nights spent refining my own understanding of protein synthesis during my undergraduate degree.
This journey keeps me grounded when explaining mitosis or meiosis to adult learners returning to science. My approach is systematic and relies on building a clear mental framework for every topic. You will find that I prioritize clarity over unnecessary complexity in all our interactions.

Since you might be struggling with the nervous system, let us start by breaking down the signaling pathways into manageable pieces. Examining the circulatory system often reveals gaps in foundational knowledge that we can patch quickly. My 6 years of experience allows me to pivot when a concept does not land the first time.
We will tackle immunology basics and exam technique using high-level logic. I provide concept maps after every lesson to ensure you have a visual record of our work. Keep it simple.
That is the goal for these sessions, as we move through A-level requirements together. Understanding the material is better than memorization. It is just about connecting the dots.
