About Annabel
I am a second year Imperial College student studying a MEng in Civil Engineering. I am passionate about problem solving and using unique perspectives to solve logical problems. I also enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for science and maths with other students and helping them find their confidence in these subjects. I have tutored GCSE Maths, Physics and Chemistry students with a range of abilities from a 2 to a 9. I enjoy being part of the support system that helps students reach their target grades.

I am very passionate about helping students get a deeper appreciation for the sciences and helping students find their confidence in science and maths. I focus on GCSE Maths, Physics, Biology and Chemistry and have been tutoring all these subjects for 2 years.
For me, knowing the information is half the battle and the other half is understanding what the question is asking. I like to think I can help students grasp questions that they are unfamiliar with to help them unlock the last few tough marks. I want my students to be able to approach questions they aren’t sure on and be able to give them the tools to accurately address the question.
One technique I use is asking the student to teach me the content. By doing this, the student must succinctly explain and answer questions in a clear manner. This is often what examiners are looking for and it also allows me to understand where the gaps in their knowledge are. I also break down topics into very small sections. It’s easy to get overwhelmed so tackling things in small chunks can help students’ confidence and make it more manageable for them. Because of this, if there is a particular exam a student is working towards, I often plan our lessons with the student and use the traffic light system so they know we are addressing everything and spending the right amount of time on each topic. The traffic light system allows for tailored lesson that focus on the topics students struggle with most first, without neglecting the topics the student understands
I achieved a 44/45 in IB with a 7 in Maths, Physics and Biology IB Higher Level as well as all 9s in my GCSEs. Over the course of my GCSEs I produced hundreds of online revision notes on each subject which I also share with my students to help with their revision.
