About Liam
Hi, I'm Liam, and I am a scientist currently working at Imperial College London. I am working in chemistry automation, programming robotic arms to increase the rate and repeatability of chemistry research! Alongside this, I help run an analytical chemistry facility within the university. As part of this role, I also designed and delivered a multi-day master's level lab in Digital Chemistry.
My PhD was in materials chemistry, developing next-generation solar materials. During my PhD I also became a university-appointed tutor for a neurodivergent undergraduate chemistry student for three years.
Outside of the lab, I enjoy 3D printing/prototyping, cycle touring and hiking in the UK and abroad.

I create custom lessons based on the topics that the student is currently struggling with, rather than a generic lesson plan. I am patient and understanding, and wish to create an environment in which the student feels comfortable asking questions, no matter how "basic". In my job I regularly interact with PhD students, scientists from various branches of chemistry, and non-experts (from entrepreneurs to politicians), and so have to rely on analogies and real-world examples to explain complex ideas.
