About Nuray
I'm currently studying for a Master of Research (MRes) at Imperial College London. Before that, I spent two years as a Solution Engineer at a software company, so I can show students how maths and computer science are used in the real world.
For my undergraduate studies, I went to Cornell University, where I studied Information Science, Systems and Technology with a concentration in Data Science.
Outside of school and teaching, I love to go running, rock climbing, reading, and crocheting!

Subjects: maths up to GCSE, plus physics and beginner Python coding
Levels: KS2, KS3 and GCSE (ages 9–16)
Location: at your home in London, or online
Qualifications: BSc in Information Science, Systems and Technology from Cornell University (Ivy League) and an International Baccalaureate Diploma
Teaching experience: 3+ years tutoring maths to students aged 9–16, plus a semester as a Teaching Assistant for Cornell's university Mechanics & Kinematics physics course
Results: every student I've tutored has improved their grades, and one moved up into a higher maths class
What a lesson looks like (about 1 hour):
Before the lesson: we agree on the topic, so the lesson is focused on what the student needs.
Warm-up: we review the homework material, and the student explains it back to me as if they were the teacher. This quickly shows what they understand and where the gaps are.
Visual learning: I'm a big believer in diagrams and storyboards. They make hard ideas easier to picture and remember.
Practice: we work through questions together first, then the student tries some on their own.
Homework: a short set of questions to consolidate the lesson and prepare for the next one.
I adapt the pace and style to each student, whether they need to catch up, build confidence or push ahead.
