About Gor

Do you want to improve your chess rating faster than ever? I’ll help you reach the next level confidently, no matter your age or experience.
I started playing chess when I was very young, and my father taught me the basics. From that moment, I developed a deep love for the game. I played every day and would even greet guests with a chessboard in my hands, inviting them to play — many left having lost!
Later, I joined a chess school where my passion grew even more. I participated in numerous tournaments, steadily improved, and learned to compete at higher levels. Today, I coach both children and adults, from complete beginners to ambitious players aiming to reach the next level.

I am a Top-Rated chess coach with over 17 years of experience, and I have 100+ verified 5★ reviews from students of all ages. My students have achieved excellent results, including prize-winning places in different sections of the American Open, finals of the Armenian Chess Championship, and strong performances in international tournaments. Many also see noticeable improvement in rating and confidence within the first few weeks of lessons.
I understand how frustrating it can be to feel stuck, make the same mistakes, or not know what to do in your games — I’ve been there myself. That’s why my approach focuses not on memorizing openings, but on learning how to think, plan, and make better decisions at the board. Lessons are structured, calm, and fully personalized, helping students progress step by step at their own pace.
I also love sharing advice from my own experience: never give up. Once, in an important tournament, I had a strong position but lost in the end. I was disappointed because the victory would have taken me to the finals. My coach came to me and said, “He who cannot lose can never win. Be strong. Next time, you will succeed.” Those words gave me strength and shaped my mindset — one that I now pass on to all my students.
I teach in English, Russian, and Spanish, and work with students from the UK and all over the world through online lessons.

  • 1) When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?

When I was 11 my father taught me how to play chess! I fell in love with this game. I was playing chess everyday in every corner. Then my parents bought chess classes for me.

I was going to classes with a great passion, then I started participating in tournaments and was getting many rewards.
  • (2) Which artists or works affect you the most?

I was affected with legendary Garry Kasparov' games! He has a great talent and I have learned a lot from his games
  • (3) What are the qualities and skill required to succeed in this area?

Patience, hard work, focus, and ability to not give up!
Being respectful also is very important, we need to respect the other opponents and when you lose, try to figure out why.
  • (4) What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?

Always believe in yourself, and work hard. Of course success will come.

My advice is to find motivation. Of course, sometimes it is very hard to stay motivated, however we need to find something which can be motivation for us.
For example I imagine how can I improve my situation and I continue my learning process and working with motivation.
  • (5) How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?

When I am sad, i just solve puzzles or playing chess games, it helps me a lot.
In chess I like honesty and justice.
  • (6) What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?

I think my big achievement is motivating my students with my love of chess
  • (7) Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?

Yes, I have a student who is 5 years old. She is an easy learner and I can't stop my admiration for her ability.
Sometimes she solves very hard chess puzzles and it makes me happy!
  • (8) Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret

    I don't have any secret.
In my opinion, coaches should be dedicated, honest and do their best for each student.
When students love you they will learn and success will be inevitable.
