About Juliana
Hi! My name is Juliana, and I’m an incoming student at University of Notre Dame with a strong passion for math, problem-solving, and helping students succeed academically. Throughout high school, I challenged myself with one of the most rigorous course loads available, including 15 AP classes, while also participating extensively in mentoring programs for younger students. I also have worked teaching art to students in grades 3-5, crafting multimedia lesson plans and hands-on activities. These experiences strengthened both my analytical skills and my ability to explain difficult concepts in a clear and approachable way.

I focus on helping students truly understand concepts instead of just memorizing steps. As someone with a strong background in competitive math and advanced coursework through AP Calculus BC, I know how frustrating math can feel when teachers move too quickly or only teach one method. My goal is to break problems down clearly, explain the “why” behind each step, and adapt my teaching style to however the student learns best.
A typical lesson usually starts with reviewing any homework, classwork, or topics the student is struggling with. Then we work through practice problems together, starting with guided examples before moving toward independent practice. I also help students prepare for quizzes, tests, and exams by reviewing key concepts, identifying patterns in mistakes, and teaching strategies for approaching difficult problems with confidence.
What sets me apart is that I recently completed these classes myself, so I understand what students are currently learning and the challenges they face. My experience in math competitions also helped me develop strong problem-solving skills and multiple ways of explaining concepts. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence.
Lessons are primarily for middle school and high school students taking courses such as Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Precalculus, and AP Calculus AB/BC. Additionally, I have worked closely with elementary school students (with ADHD and learning differences) for 4 years. I can also help students strengthen foundational math skills, stay on top of coursework, or get ahead in class.
