About Mir Sohail

I am a interactive media and game designer, and a digital marketing specialist by education. I completed my graduation, B.A (Hons.) in Digital Media, Majors in Game Design, from the University of Wales, Cardiff this was followed by certifications in 2d and 3s designs from pluralsight and digital marketing specilisation from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. I've been in the field for about five years now, working and studying simultaneously to stay updated with the education and work methodology. I recently moved out to Canada and am currently a student of Interactive Media Design at Seneca College and would love to share my knowledge and experience that I have gained over the years.

About the lesson

I believe and stand by the quote from Steve Jobs - "Design is not just how it looks and feels like, design is how it works." My approach to teaching is to provide practical knowledge and enhance the visual spectrum of access for students, thereby shaping them to become industry ready. I've been trained in both traditional and digital art mediums, so a typical class would entail the aspects of merging and culminating both the entities to make it effective in production of designs, assets, characters, environments, etc. The aspect of my background in digital marketing would also mean that I would be able to give my students the aspect of production of designs for the audience. Aspects like marketing analytics, landscaping and planning in the digital marketing channels for more effective impact of the production of designs to the audience would also be a part of the course, thereby give a platform for them to understand how to make a design from scratch and be able to sell it, thereby helping them to make their own workflow and pipeline that is unique to themselves. This inevitably means that my students could be standalone contractors taking projects in the future, or be a part of an organization and have the edge of possessing the "market lens" while producing designs, than their peers. The class would be holistic and simplistic in its approach, as a result, it is open to a wide audience, right from diploma students who have just completed their high-school right upto people pursuing their masters, as there would be more complex approaches to the production of design, that would be addressed as well.
