I am a very patient teacher, but am also able to figure out the confines within which you're able to be pushed to increase your playing ability at a healthy and motivating level. I like to start off by focusing on your technique as this is the foundation which - if perfected early on - will strengthen the rest of your playing. After this I will teach you rudiments which will start to make you think about different ways in which to create fills, whilst also increasing your speed, flexibility and balance around the kit. These are important lessons to have, whether you're a beginner or you've been playing for years. After this I will work with my students to figure out what their reasons for playing are and help them to achieve their individual goals.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Music Industry) at RMIT; before this I was - and still am - drumming for Yossarian, a world touring band based in the UK. I have played over 200 live concerts and have also taught drums for several years, privately.
I want to have several students in one day in a similar area if doing a live lesson, so it's not just one trip out as I unfortunately can't drive
Perfect! Sam is friendly, gentle and great with kids.
Perfect! Sam is a great teacher! He is really patient and helped me feel comfortable when I was nervous, being a beginner. I felt completely at ease as he was understanding and explained things (that I didn't understand) in different ways. He was very encouraging, and I can see that from only doing a few lessons I have improved my technique and my confidence. He provides fantastic material for practising alone between classes. This has helped me to have some structure when I practise and has helped me to master different techniques. I think the best thing about learning from Sam is that he is upbeat, personable and friendly, which is hard to find in a teacher! Good value for good quality lessons!
