About Tyler
My name is Tyler; I’ve spent most of my adult life in an academic environment. I attended Brown University from 2009-2013 and directly continued into a graduate program in Asheville, NC for classical Chinese medicine which lasted from 2013-2017. Following this I went into private practice (in Brooklyn initially before returning to Asheville) and only three years after graduate school I was teaching, serving as a TA, and tutoring students — completely immersed in the academic world again. Even throughout my time in school I found myself working with after-school programs for elementary, middle, and high schoolers. I taught chess in an after school program in Brooklyn. I taught physics and chemistry to middle schoolers in an after school program around western North Carolina. I tutored ACT/SAT Math and English for a few years and I’m currently in private practice three days per week near downtown Asheville.

I’m exceptionally good at organizing information and delivering it in a way that students can understand. I am passionate about understanding the world; engaging in a classroom setting allows me to dig deep into interesting subjects along with the students so that together we emerge with a stronger grasp of how something works. I take teaching very seriously and I hold my students to a high standard; many students would call my classes difficult. Despite this, I’ve never been accused of being unfair, and I find that this level of rigor is appreciated in the end.
