About Risako
Hi! I’m Risako, a native Japanese speaker from Osaka currently living in Perth.
I’ve always enjoyed meeting people from different countries and learning about different cultures, which is one of the reasons I wanted to start teaching Japanese online. Since moving to Australia, I’ve met many people interested in Japan, and I realized how fun it is to help others learn natural Japanese in a relaxed and friendly way.
I know learning a new language can feel intimidating at first because I’m also learning English every day while living abroad. That’s why I try to create lessons where students feel comfortable, supported, and not afraid of making mistakes.
Outside of teaching, I love nature, traveling, and meeting new people from around the world.

Hey! I’m a native Japanese speaker from Japan currently living in Australia
My lessons are super casual and relaxed — more like chatting with a Japanese friend than studying in a strict classroom. I know learning a new language can feel scary at first, so I focus on helping students feel comfortable and confident speaking naturally.
I mainly teach conversational Japanese for beginners, focusing on everyday phrases and natural expressions that Japanese people actually use in real life. I want students to enjoy speaking Japanese instead of just memorizing grammar from textbooks.
In lessons, we can practice:

Casual slang & natural expressions
Ordering food / cafes / shopping
Culture talk
Simple grammar for conversation
I usually keep lessons around 60 minutes, but I’m flexible depending on what works best for you.
Even though I’m new to tutoring professionally, living abroad has helped me understand how difficult learning another language can feel sometimes. Because of that, I try to create a fun and easy-going atmosphere where making mistakes is completely okay.
