About Shuni

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Japanese Literature from Padjadjaran University and have extensive experience both teaching Japanese and using the language professionally.

I was awarded a scholarship from The Japan Foundation to participate in a Japanese language teaching training program in Japan. This experience helped me develop a structured and effective approach to teaching Japanese as a foreign language.

I have five years of experience as a Japanese language lecturer at the university level. In addition, I worked for more than twenty years as a Japanese–English–Indonesian translator and interpreter at a Japanese-Indonesian manufacturing company.

My combined experience in education and the professional world enables me to help students not only understand the Japanese language itself, but also use it effectively in academic and professional settings.

About the lesson

My Japanese lessons are carefully structured based on my teaching experience and on learning materials developed by The Japan Foundation. Each study program can be tailored to the individual goals of the student, whether for everyday conversation, academic preparation, travel to Japan, or professional purposes.

Lessons are conducted online via Zoom. To create an effective and comfortable learning environment, I incorporate a variety of digital teaching tools into my classes. This allows students to learn from anywhere without spending valuable time traveling.
After each lesson, students receive lesson materials in PDF format for review and self-study. I also use Kahoot to provide practice and revision activities in a more interactive and enjoyable way.

In addition to grammar and vocabulary, I enjoy introducing aspects of Japanese culture that relate to the topics being studied. This helps students not only learn the language itself but also gain a deeper understanding of the cultural background that influences the way Japanese people communicate.

For beginners, lesson materials can be provided in romaji during the initial stages of study. As students progress, hiragana and other Japanese writing systems can be introduced gradually according to their needs and learning goals.

I primarily offer online lessons because of their flexibility and effectiveness. However, in-person lessons may be considered under certain conditions.

(4) Lessons cancelled or rescheduled less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time will incur a fee equal to 50% of the lesson cost.
