About Sofia
In my 6 amazing years focusing exclusively on K-12 mathematics, I've had the absolute joy of helping over 320 students completely flip their relationship with numbers! I've literally seen kids go from hiding behind their parents when math homework comes up to proudly showing off their A+ test scores. What makes my approach different? I explain every concept in at least three different ways until something clicks, I make sure we connect math to things you actually care about, and I celebrate every tiny victory because they all add up to something incredible! Can I tell you a secret? Math used to scare me too when I was younger! That's exactly why I'm SO passionate about showing students that math can actually be their friend. Whether you're just starting to learn your times tables or you're a high schooler wrestling with calculus, I promise I'll meet you right where you are. My elementary students absolutely ADORE our "Math Mystery" games where we solve problems using their favorite cartoon characters and toys - suddenly multiplication becomes about sharing cookies with Pokémon! Middle schoolers love it when I show them how algebra helps them figure out the best phone plan or calculate how much money they'll save for that gaming console they want. High school students get pumped when they realize trigonometry actually explains how their favorite video games create those amazing graphics! I use colorful visual aids, hands-on manipulatives, technology tools, and LOTS of celebration because honestly? Every single one of my students has mathematical genius inside them just waiting to shine!
