About Zane
I am in my Junior year at Madison High School is Portland Oregon. I took compacted math in high school, and am currently taking Precalculus. I have had straight A's in all my math classes, and have a passion for the subject. I frequently help my peers out on math problems during class. My father is a college professor, and I have sat in on his classes, giving me some insight on teaching. I am also taking three AP classes this year and have taken three total in my Freshman and Sophomore years.

I would give lessons to anyone in grades below me: elementary schoolers, middle schoolers, even Freshman and Sophomores. I could potentially teach Juniors and Seniors, but only if they weren't taking Precalc or Calculus. My teaching style is about narrowing in on what exactly the student needs help with. I would have them try a practice problem, see what they get stuck on, and base by instruction around that. My goal is to try, as much as possible, to let the student discover the answer themselves. One they discover the answer (or I teach them if they're very stuck), I would have them do another problem to see if they had learned.

Whoever Zane is working with, he knows how to meet them where they are in their current knowledge. He will listen for the challenges a student is having and help them figure out what pieces are missing. In addition to being highly proficient in math, Zane is a skilled and empathetic teacher.
Zane has taught me for over a year now. His personable lessons are customized to fit the learning styles of his students and I had never had anyone teach me with the same passion as him. He is super open to new styles of learning and was very helpful with algebra because he is able to teach difficult topics in engaging ways. Zane is great with young kids and older students as well! Highly recommended :)
